Cloudstreet

Cloudstreet : A Novel

I have just finished watching Cloudstreet, I loved every bit of this strange and wonderful tale, mind you i cried many times throughout. There is something so special about Australian drama and i have yet to see one i haven't enjoyed, although often very raw and disturbing there is something true and magical about these stories, especially this one. This seemed a little extra special to me also because it is set in and around Perth .
Cloudstreet is a novel by Australian writer Tim Winton. It chronicles the lives of two working class Australian families who come to live together at One Cloud Street, in a suburb of Perth, over a period of twenty years, 1943 - 1963. It was the recipient of a Miles Franklin Award in 1992.Precipitated by separate personal tragedies, two families flee their rural livings to share a "great continent of a house", Cloudstreet, in the Perth suburb of West Leederville. The two families are contrasts to each other; the Lambs find meaning in industry and in God’s grace; the Pickles, in luck.......
I am off to read the novel now xxx
