Oh What a Day!

Hello Sweets,
Whoever would have thought that drawing was a dangerous activity........ My day finished in a tis after starting in a tis also.......
I rolled out of bed at 6am to rush around like a madman because i had done nothing the night before. I got to school on time, did reading and then took of with Samuel to Buzy kids (his 3 hours of heaven away from me a week). I quickly drove from there to work not forgetting my all important "muzz buzz" drive thru on the way. I quickly made a couple of calls chasing up orders that hadn't been processed and trying to get hold of my bookkeeper. I waved goodbye and visited the the saviour who was fixing y computer (that's another story) he showed me how to use the new gem and i scooted off to do some food shopping, sadly the cupboards were bare x i called a friend while shooting around the supermarket, and after getting off the the phone to my dismay realised i still had sunglasses on (in the dark) like i was some kind of super star or something ha ha;
I picked up my Boy Wonder on the way home and put the shop away, got lunch and checked emails etc etc
............. anyway we went to Ballet.........
I Bought these coloured pencils to carry in my bag for emergencies, a great idea i thought, i was sitting at ballet all so calmly, Samuel and another little boy were quietly drawing when suddenly "mum....... Blood"
I have never seen so much blood in my life and do you know what he had done......... wait for it.......
He sharpened his finger with the pencil sharpener! OUCH! so with the help of three gorgeous parents we got it bandaged and he cried all the way home, had no appetite and went to bed..... sad!
What a day!!!!

Aw Look At That!

Aw i  want this little creature..........

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a fabulous weekend ladies, why would I??

Little BFF's (best friends forever)

Hello my Sweets,
I have no idea if everyone  is as much of a stress head as me but i constantly worry about Imogen and Samuel when they are away from me. The thought of them having no friends is soooo heartbreaking, and as my husband is always telling me "you as a mum have to give your kids the right tools to work with in life" oh he is so smart......... and right......... always!
And my kids seem to be doing ok..... so whats my problem???
So I thought i would put together some valuable points on how you can help your child make friends and to keep friends.

Here goes!
  • Help your little one to find the right friends. Teach them that one BFF (i have only recently learned the meaning of this he he) could be disappointing and it is much better to be every body's friend and to join in every body's games. I found an interesting page you might like to read.
  • Show your child how to join in with a game believe it or not this is a learned behaviour, for instance if the group is playing shops, then show your child how to become a new customer., encourage your child to be imaginative
  • Encourage your child to be open to everyone is different games, and to experiment. No one likes a bossy child, but also in saying that there is nothing wrong with being a little bit assertive, leadership is a good quality only if it comes hand in hand with empathy.
  • Encourage your child not to judge, be friends with whoever you want to be, join in with whatever you want to one on one or in group play.
  • Never reinforce negative attitudes. For example always let your little one  ask and answer questions for themselves, you definitely don't want to encourage shy behaviour.
  • A child should have a mixture of friends, so encourage this, school friends, dance friends, neighbour's there is a whole world out there.
  • Encourage friendship amongst those he/she has something in common with, such as ballet friends, or sport friends.
Oh and making friends with the parents doesn't hurt either so maybe we can take these points on board too.

Have a great day!

The Best and the Worst!

Happy Monday Girls,

Are you turning into your mum??

Kate Hudson and Rumour Willis have both showed the same flair for acting as their mums,. We all love to think we are unique, but we do need to take some of the things our mums have installed in us, cherish them, and pass them on. check out some shots of celebrity mother and daughter lookalikes.......... spooky!

I find myself more often than not sounding spookily like my mum, " Eat your veges they are good for you, "eat your crusts and your hair will go curly" and "if you make that face the wind will change and you will stay like it " ha ha the list goes on and on.

The one i found myself saying last night was " If your too full to eat your dinner then you are too full for dessert". I don't think this kind of advice will hurt my children, but over the years have acknowledged that you have to be very careful what you say in regards to food. My parents have spent their lives on yo yo diets ( funnily enough they arn't even over weight ), but every time i see them without fail they are "being good". I have therefore banned the word "diet" from our house and the word "fat" and have told my mum on numerous occasions she is not allowed to talk diet in front of the kids , we all know that alot of eating disorders are caused through low self esteem.
When talking to your kids try to remember what you hated as younger one. Make sure you allow tour children to handle challenges and responsibilities, but always let them know you are there if they need help and when it comes to your mum always remember to focus on all the special gifts she installed in you, and cherish them!

Hello Ladies

I make this all the time (especially to take with me on weekends) now as a "quick" dessert that looks like you have spent all day on it....... that's what we all want heh?? My friend Amanda brought it over once, and i know she has no Patience when baking so thought it MUST be amazing if she made it from scratch.

My Friend Amanda's Banoffee Pie!

  • 1 x 250g pkt granita biscuits (Arnott's brand, crushed to crumbs)
  • 125g butter, melted
  • 2 bananas Chopped)
  • 1 x 300ml ctn double cream (Whipped)
  • Two Cadbury flakes to sprinkle on top (a must)
  • Caramel filling

  • 1 x 395g can sweetened condensed milk (if you want an even quicker option you can buy a can of caramel, i have tried both, home made is better for sure)
  • 70g (1/3 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
  • 50g butter
Add melted butter to crushed biscuits and pat into greased and lined tin.
Melt butter, sugar, condensed milk and vanilla essence in a saucepan and stir until boiling, turn down heat and simmer until thick, cool and pour over biscuit base.
Add sliced banana to the top of caramel spread over evenly, one layer is fine. Spread whipped cream over the top and add flaked flakes yum!!!
Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Aw Look At That!

WOW! is all i can stay about this kitchen...... it belongs to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick and is part of their home in the Hamptons!

Delicious!

Why is Grandma a "swear word"

Hi lovely ladies,

What do you think of this????

I was out yesterday afternoon and heard a child call their Grandma "Gidget", I nearly laughed out loud, that was after getting over the shock of it being a Grandmas name in the first place!, When i got home i googled a few sites and found their are actually an amazing amount of trendy grandparent names out there!

The New York Times has recently informed us that Goldie Hawn goes by Glam-Ma and Blythe Danner by Lalo. The recent Times piece, one of the most-shared pieces on the paper's website, also introduces one family with grandparents known as Q and a Buya Buya .

Today's Grandparents it seems, are "resistant to being called anything that makes them sound old," the Times reports, " and have taken to accepting toddlers' neologisms and ethnic variations or, better yet, naming themselves."

I must say I am not looking forward to the day..... and I will probably be one of these vain (I am still too young to be a grandparent types), I may even think up a random name that suits, but then again, on the other hand I am a sickly traditional type gal who will probably end up being called "Granny" like her predecessors!

Please Please let me know your thoughts and any names you will be called or are being called as we speak?? I would love to hear from you!

How old is too old.......? Never by the looks of this!

How old is too old to wear a certain fashion item?? should we "listen to everything we read"? or is it just a question of personal self esteem?

Actress Helen Mirren is in her 60's and her famous bikini photos last week have raised the bar for bodies mature women aspire to. (Isn't she fabulous)

A new survey published in the Daily Mail May 11 now tries to provide an official benchmark too.

2,000 women between the ages of 18 and 65 polled by UK dieting company Diet Chef proved to be conservative when it comes to the appropriate age for wearing a mini skirt (35) or boob tube(33) but were much more generous regarding the bikini (47), giving all of you until the age of 61 to throw out your swimsuit and never show yourself at the beach again.

Everyone but Elle MacPherson, who is older than 34, shouldn't be wearing leather pants, apparently, but for leggings, you'll get another eleven years until they become an item of the past also. (in my opinion it depends how your wearing them, sometimes they shouldn't be worn at all.

As for shoes, mark your 47th birthday by throwing out any Uggs or knee highs and your 50th is the sunset for all stilettos. Apparently its time from there on to opt for more sensible shoe choices.

Oh and PS its time to chop off your hair, apparently long hair and ponytails are no-nos from your early 50s.

Thank god I still have a few years up my sleeve.
